IVES THE BAND
|
"We had Ives The Band out to Skull Church and they rocked. They were a joy to serve with and integrated well with what God was doing. It was a joy partnering with them. Oh yeah, and their music was killer." -- Levi Lusko, Senior Pastor, Fresh Life Church, Kalispell, Mont. "Just had Ives The Band in at our church tonight and what a great band. Not only was the music really good but the guys were really nice to work with and showed a lot of character and the Christian walk. I hope that they will continue to be heard." -- Jim Meyer, Community Lutheran Church, Escondido, Calif. Los Angeles-based IVES THE BAND blends multi-part harmonies with alternate-tuning acoustic guitars and electric guitar textures in a style reminiscent of Leeland, Jars of Clay, and Phil Wickham. Jason Tolliver (guitar/vocals), Kyle Moore (guitars), Bryce Newman (bass), and Drew Newman (drums/background vocals) grew up as friends in the town of Auburn, Calif., fifty miles northeast of Sacramento, and together honed their songwriting and overall sound. Though young (the band members are all between 22 and 27 years of age), their music is nuanced and mature in surprising ways. Songs like "The Joker" and "Colnel Maxwell" showcase their gift for melody and arrangement. In a live setting, their renditions of "The Stand," "Our God (Is Greater)," and "It Is Well With My Soul" are passionate and unique. Definitely a band worth checking out. |
