Shachah signs deal with Cross Movement Records

Southern California hip-hop/soul/rock band SHACHAH just signed a deal with Cross Movement Records and the band's national debut album is slated to be released early next year.

"This has been a process that started a while back and through much prayer and a building of relationships we have decided that this is what the Lord has put in our path," says bassist Earl Mergelsberg. "Please keep us in prayer as we start to get ready for the next chapter in this ministry that the Lord has entrusted us with."

The new album will be a mix of songs already written and released on Shachah's three self-released albums, plus many new tracks.

In the meantime, the band is hitting the road this summer, with dozens of dates lined up on tours in the Northwest later this month and into May as well as a Southeast US tour in June and July. Nathan Tasker SoCal tour report

Australian singer-songwriter-worship leader NATHAN TASKER just completed his two-week Southern California tour, hitting eleven cities from Palm Springs to San Juan Capistrano to Los Angeles. "I came expecting great weather, but it ended up being horrible," laughs Nathan, who arrived in the middle of a week-long rainstorm in the Los Angeles area. "Despite that, it's always great to come to California and we love playing out here."

"I think my favorite show was Tuesday night at The Living Room," says Tasker, referring to the Bible study at The Coffee Depot in downtown Riverside that is taught by Fishers artist Steve Wiggins. "A hundred college students packed into that place, singing at the top of their lungs was incredible. Just a fantastic vibe and we really enjoyed it."

Nathan's tour comes on the release of his brand-new Prone To Wander: The Hymn Project CD, which features new arrangements and compositions based on classic hymns such as "Come Thou Fount," "It Is Well," "Be Thou My Vision," and "Nothing But The Blood."

Roby Duke: Fishers mourns the loss of a friend

Longtime friend ROBY DUKE recently passed away at his home in Seattle, and everyone at Fishers mourns the loss of their brother in the Lord. Roby is survived by his son, Brantley, who played with Roby at his final show on Christmas Eve. We are all tremendously saddened to lose Roby and will miss him until the day we're all reunited in the presence of God.

"I truly believe that lyrics like those could only come from a pretty deep walk with the Lord," says Ron Guilliams, Fishers' founder and a longtime friend of Roby's. "I first met him years ago when I helped organize one of the Men's Retreats for Harvest Christian Fellowship (a church in Riverside, Calif.)... this was back when (Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa pastor) Chuck Smith first opened Twin Peaks Conference Center in Southern California. Roby was early for his sound check down there at the big Chapel... I introduced myself and told him that we were honored to have him.

"So he turns to me there in the Chapel and says 'Any place around here serve up a really greasy cheeseburger by chance?' So we jumped in his rental car and ended up in a little malt shop down near Arrowbear. He had been there and back with booking agent types, but he allowed me to explain how Fishers was different. What followed were some really fun years for me. He stayed with us from time to time when he was down in Southern California... and we were fortunate to do booking for him for several years.

"The big ol' Mississippi native would absolutly flog a guitar in that Southern flavor that only he could bring and the way he added his vocals to that was nothing short of genius for my money. He was one of kind and I'll really miss him."

A memorial service for Roby is planned at Crossroads Bible Church at 15815 SE 37th St., Bellevue, WA on Sunday, Jan 6 at 2pm.

"When the saints are called up yonder
I believe that I'll be there
though I am the same man with the same needs
as always

...

they tell me hearts are torn asunder
by the pain of moving on
we're riding on the same rails
on a train that's bound for forever

I hope you know you're still my good friend
and when the saints go marching in
I would like to turn and see your face
so be there

and some change would do us all some good
it's so good to finally find
that there is no stairway to heaven
only a Bridge Divine"

Remedy Drive signs with Word Records

REMEDY DRIVE recently signed a multi-record deal with Word Records and plans are for the band to release their national debut CD in mid-2008. After negotiating with 3 different labels Remedy Drive went with Word feeling they were in the best position to introduce the band to a nationwide audience.

Brothers David (lead vocals, guitar, keys), Paul (guitar, vocals), Philip (bass, vocals), and Dan (drums) have built a massive grass-roots following through intense touring for the last five years; the band's most recent CD Rip Open The Skies has been a major independent hit and helped create the enormous buzz around the band that culminated in appearances this summer at Sonshine, DownPour, and LifeLight Festivals.
